Black Winter Truffle
Tuber Melanosporum

Black Winter Truffles are available from the beginning of December through to the end of March/early April, depending on the climate conditions in the region.
The truffles are deep brown with a rough outer texture. Cutting them open reveals a beautiful black and white marbling.
These truffles possess a unique, complex chocolate aroma and unforgettable umami flavor.
They are best enjoyed when finely sliced or shaved. They can be used uncooked, or lightly sautéed in truffle oil or butter which brings out a slightly bitter, peppery flavour. Perfect for adding to sauces, pasta or risotto to create a truly memorable dish.
Once foraged each truffle can generally last up to 10 days when stored correctly. For best results we recommend consumption within 3 days of receiving your fresh truffles.
The fascinating variance of truffles means they will differ in shape and size. The weight of all fresh truffle orders will be rounded up, with the quality of each rigorously checked to ensure they arrive in optimum condition and shipped in specialist refrigerated packaging. Given their highly perishable nature we recommend you refrigerate on receipt and follow any storage details sent with your shipment.
